Assignment #22

Photoshop Project 7
Due Date: February 4

Instructions

Retouch a person's photograph in Photoshop using the tools you learned so far.

  1. GET SET UP
    1. Create a new folder in your username folder called "Lastname Project 7". (Be sure to replace "Lastname" with your actual last name.)
    2. Save a large digital photograph of a person's face in your "Lastname Project 7" folder. You may bring in a photo and we can scan it. Alternately, you may find one online. Find one that is faded, scratched, or in which the person's image could use some TLC (tender loving care).
    3. Open the photograph in Photoshop.
  2. CREATE A NEW VERSION
Save the image with a new name so you still have the original. I MUST SEE THE ORIGINAL TOO!
    1. Go to File > Save As...
    2. Rename the file so it says "edit" at the end. For example, "IMG_0025.jpg" would become "IMG_0025edit.jpg".
    3. Save this "edit" version into your "Lastname Project 7" folder.
  3. FIX THAT PHOTO!
Using the skills you learned in Lesson 06, make this photo the best it can be. I should see considerable improvement. Repair a photo or make someone look younger, more attractive or healthier.
    • Fix any scratches or imperfections with the healing tools.
    • Fix red eye.
    • Whiten teeth with the sponge tool.
    • Lighten or darken skin tones or hair. Take out red splotchiness.
    • Restore faded color with Variations.
    • Try adding a layer and setting the blend mode to Color if you want to paint in some makeup.
  4. MAKE A RECORD
    1. Open Notepad (Start > Notepad, or open it from your desktop.) Save the new, untitled text file as "process.txt" in your "Lastname Project 7".
    2. In "process.txt", record everything you did in Photoshop to improve the original photograph.
    3. Keep recording your progress as you go, so you don't have to try to remember it all at the end.
  5. TURN IT IN
Turn in the entire "Lastname Project 7" folder into the "Project 7" folder in the Inbox. I should see the following in your "Lastname Project 7" folder:
    1. the original image
    2. the edited image (5 points - but I must see the original too)
    3. "process.txt" (5 points)
