Assignment #6

Create a 3-Page Web Site Using Dreamweaver
Due: May 6

Create your own 3-page Web site using Dreamweaver. Any topic is okay so long as it is school-appropriate. Each site must be original and unique. You will be building upon this Web site as we approach the final project for the year.

READ ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS CAREFULLY.

 

A. Usability Requirements

  1. LAYOUT. The arrangement of text and images on each page should be attractive and well organized.
  2. NAVIGATION. Each page links to each of the others.
  3. CONSISTENCY. All pages are consistent in layout: navigation, content, logo, etc. are always in the same place on the page.
  4. TEXT. The text is large enough to read and contrasts strongly with the background color.
  5. IMAGES. Each page contains no more than 100Kb in images, and no image is wider than 800px.
  6. TITLES. Each page must have a logical <title> element that identifies both the Web site and the topic of the page.

 

B. Content Requirements

  1. TEXT. Each page must have at least one heading (e.g. <h1>) and at least one paragraph of text. The heading and text must all be styled in CSS.
  2. IMAGES. Each page must have at least one image (it can be the same image from page to page.)
  3. LINKS. Each page must have at least one link to an outside URL or an email address. The links must be styled in CSS.
  4. TABLE. At least one page must have a table. The table must have a row (<tr>) of table headers (<th>) at the top and at least one row of table cells (<td>). The table must have at least two columns of data. The table must have some CSS styling.
  5. LIST. At least one page must have a list. The list must be coded as an XHTML list (<ol>, <ul>, <li>, etc.) The list must have some CSS styling.

 

Getting Started

  1. Create a folder in your root folder called
    lastname_3-page-website
    , where lastname is your own last name.
  2. Make a new index.html in Dreamweaver, and save it inside your lastname_3-page-website folder. Your home page must be called index.html.
  3. Make a new style.css in Dreamweaver and save it in this folder too.
  4. Name your two other Web pages whatever you like, being sure to end the file name in ".html" (no spaces in file names).
  5. Complete the coding of the Web site according to the Requirements listed above.
  6. Save and test the pages frequently as you work.

 

Turn in Your Work

  1. In My Documents, navigate down to your lastname_3-page-website folder.
  2. Right-click on the lastname_3-page-website folder and select Copy.
  3. Navigate to the Inbox.
  4. Right-click on the Assignment 6 folder and select Paste.
