Request for Proposal

Web Design Assignments

Homework #3

Request for Proposal
Due: October 26, 2007

Instructions

  • Get started now! You will be relying on a client to make time in his or her schedule for this, so the sooner you arrange this the better.
  • Identify a client on campus who wants a school-related Web page or Web site. Choose someone you'd like to work with. This will lead to an actual Web project.
  • This client can be a faculty member, an academic department, an administrative department, a club, a sports team, or some other individual or organization on campus; the Web project must be NHS-related.
  • Begin the Request for Proposal; ask the client if they would rather:
    • Be interviewed, in which case you ask them the questions (in person or via phone) and you write down their answers, or
    • Complete the RFP themselves, in which case you drop off the RFP with them and they will return their answers to you in writing or via email (make sure you get this back with enough time to do the next step!)
  • Write up the RFP neatly and thoroughly, in your own words.
  • The completed RFP should be organized into these headings:
    • Client Basics
    • Project Basics
    • Criteria Ranked by Order of Importance
    • Audience, Content and Functionality
    • Ideal Web Sites
  • It is okay if two students collect an RFP from the same faculty/staff member, but each RFP should be written in the student's own words.
  • Turn in the completed RFP by Friday, October 26.

Grading
